Opera, the Norwegian company behind the crypto-friendly web browser Opera, has expanded its crypto buying services for android users to entire European Union countries and as well as four countries that include Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Switzerland.

Opera made the announcement in press published on its official on Monday, March 30. The other update include support for Web 3.0 websites with .crypto domain names (Unstoppable domains) as well as .eth and .xyz (ENS: Ethereum Name System) using IPFS.

Opera, founded in 1995, claims to be the first browser to introduce Web 3.0 capabilities and a built-in crypto wallet across its mobile and computer browsers. The company has enabled several features to help users use cryptocurrency and other blockchain-related applications on the browser without the need to download extensions.

In December 2018, the company launched its first blockchain browser, Opera for Android, that supports a built-in crypto wallet and DApp explorer. The company then later introduced a built-in crypto wallet to its desktop browser as well as to its iOS browser, named Opera Touch. Android users can purchase Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) by using Visa or Master Card while their iOS counterparts by using Apple Pay.

As reported by Crypto Economy, earlier this month, Opera introduced easy crypto-purchases in the US made possible by a partnership with US-based crypto-focused payments processor Wyre. At that time, Opera enabled its services Scandinavian users. Now, the functionality for Opera android has been expanded to all countries that are in European Union (EU) as well as to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Switzerland.

Charles Hamel, Head of Crypto at Opera browsers, commented:

“Being able to acquire cryptocurrencies without having to go through an exchange, directly from the wallet makes the process easy for our users. Expanding this feature to more regions is key to driving blockchain-adoption.”

Hamel added:

“We’re excited to expand on our collaboration with Wyre and deliver a best-in-class crypto buy experience to even more countries.”

The company claims that can receive cryptocurrencies in their accounts in less than 30 seconds by using its services. Opera has also partnered with Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain naming system built on Ethereum, that allows users to a .crypto domain name.  instead of long addresses, owning a .crypto domain name shortens the wallet addresses, which makes it easier to send and receive cryptocurrencies.
