CME Group announced plans to launch regulated futures contracts for Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM) on February 9, expanding its crypto derivatives offering as institutional demand for regulated exposure continues to grow.

The Chicago-based derivatives exchange confirmed that the new products will be overseen by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and will be available in both micro-sized and larger contract formats. ADA futures will represent 100,000 tokens, with Micro ADA futures covering 10,000 tokens. Chainlink futures will cover 5,000 LINK, with micro contracts of 250 LINK, while Stellar futures will represent 250,000 XLM, with micro contracts of 12,500 XLM. All contracts will be cash-settled and traded on CME’s regulated futures platform.

Futures accounted for most of this activity, with average daily volume of 272,200 contracts and notional value of $11.7 billion, while options trading also reached record levels despite remaining smaller in scale. CME has increasingly positioned itself as a preferred venue for institutional hedging and basis trading, at times overtaking Binance in Bitcoin futures open interest as market participants favored regulated exchanges.

Alongside its crypto expansion, CME Group also announced the launch of a 100-ounce Silver futures contract on February 9. The contract will be financially settled based on the benchmark Silver futures price and listed on COMEX, targeting growing retail participation in metals markets.
