TL;DR

  • ARK Invest purchased 8,579 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF on September 28, worth about $85,500.
  • The purchase follows additional SOLQ acquisitions on September 23 and 25, extending ARK’s recent exposure to Solana.
  • SOLQ combines direct SOL exposure with staking rewards, giving investors a regulated vehicle to participate in Solana’s growth.

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest continues to expand its exposure to Solana through the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF, adding to a series of purchases made during September. The latest move gives Solana ETF exposure another boost as institutional access to crypto assets continues to broaden.

According to ARK’s disclosed trading activity, the investment firm purchased 8,579 SOLQ shares on September 28 for approximately $85,500. The transaction followed purchases of 6,362 shares on September 25 and 5,589 shares on September 23, showing that the exposure was built through several transactions rather than a single allocation.

ARK Expands Solana ETF Exposure

The 3iQ Solana Staking ETF trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under SOLQ and SOLQ.U. Launched in April 2025, the fund provides investors with exposure to SOL while incorporating staking into its investment strategy. Its structure gives traditional-market participants a way to access Solana’s network economics without directly managing tokens or staking infrastructure.

ARK already had exposure to SOLQ through its ARK Next Generation Internet ETF and ARK Fintech Innovation ETF. In April 2025, 3iQ announced that ARK had invested more than $10 million cumulatively in the Solana ETF, making the latest purchases part of a broader institutional position rather than a new entry into the asset.

The ETF also reflects a broader shift in how investors can gain crypto exposure. Instead of purchasing SOL directly, investors can use an exchange-traded structure that combines asset exposure with professional custody and staking operations. 3iQ says SOLQ is fully secured in cold storage and offers daily yield accrual from staking.

ARK Invest purchased 8,579 shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF on September 28, worth about $85,500.

Solana Gains Institutional Attention

Wood has long maintained a strong position on digital assets. ARK was the first public fund manager to invest in Bitcoin through its ARKW ETF in 2015, demonstrating an early willingness to provide traditional investors with access to emerging crypto markets.

Her firm’s continued Solana purchases add another layer to that approach. Solana has developed into one of the largest blockchain networks by market value, while its ecosystem supports decentralized finance, stablecoins, consumer applications and other on-chain activity.
