BNB Chain, the smart contract blockchain that powers the Binance Coin (BNB), has announced the launch of its Greenfield Mainnet, a storage-oriented network that aims to transform the way users interact with their data.
The Greenfield Mainnet went live on October 17, after a successful Testnet phase that saw over 200,000 transactions among 150,000 wallet addresses. The Greenfield Mainnet is designed to provide decentralized hosting and sharing for websites, applications, and AI datasets.
Users can create, manage, and delete their own data buckets on the BNB Chain while enjoying the benefits of encryption, privacy, and security. The network also supports multiple storage providers, offering users more flexibility and choice.
Arnaud Bauer, Senior Solution Architect at BNB Chain, explained the advantages of Greenfield over centralized data storage platforms. He said:
“Distinct from centralized offerings, BNB Greenfield empowers users with control over their data, mitigating the risk of breaches and data loss.”
BNB Stayed in the Green
The launch of the Greenfield Mainnet did not have a significant impact on the BNB price action, as the coin traded at around $213 at the time of writing. Since September, the support level of $205 has played a crucial role in preventing BNB’s value from falling below $200.
This support level has been staunchly defended by bullish investors, contributing significantly to BNB’s resilience. This has been particularly evident in the past week, when BNB experienced a 3.18% increase, indicating a positive market sentiment.
The BNB Chain has also been recognized as the largest smart contract blockchain in terms of active addresses in June, beating rivals such as Ethereum, Solana, and Tron. The Greenfield Mainnet is another milestone for the BNB Chain, which aims to become a leading platform for decentralized applications and services.
The network has also been working on improving its scalability, interoperability, and performance through various initiatives such as the BNB Bridge and the BNB Accelerator Program. With the launch of Greenfield, BNB Chain hopes to attract more developers and users to its ecosystem.
