TL;DR:
- Service launch: Blockchain.com activated a 24/7 API interface for institutional clients.
- Capital terms: The integration allows trade execution without the need to pre-fund accounts for eligible participants.
- Operational modality: The automated API operates in parallel with the voice and chat over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk.
During trading hours on Thursday, November 5, financial services platform Blockchain.com rolled out an institutional API trading service. This new service was designed to provide corporate investors with automated access—around the clock—to its digital liquidity infrastructure.
The platform’s team explained that the technical implementation operates through a unified interface directly linking institutional traders to the firm’s liquidity books. According to the market report, the tool is geared toward investment firms, hedge funds, family offices, and corporate treasuries looking to automate large-scale capital flows without relying solely on manual intermediaries.
With this deployment, connected counterparties can deploy custom proprietary algorithms to execute buy and sell orders for crypto assets in real time. According to the official announcement, the system runs continuously seven days a week, removing the scheduling constraints that typically restrict traditional financial market channels.

Flexible Settlement Architecture and System Integration
The API’s architecture introduces settlement structures tailored to each participant’s internal policies. Entities meeting risk assessment and eligibility requirements will be able to execute transactions without needing to fully pre-fund their trading accounts prior to order placement.
This capability addresses the operational requirements of quantitative asset managers. According to technical documentation released by the company, the service accommodates post-trade settlement arrangements aligned with each client’s treasury cycle.
Furthermore, the interface was built using compatibility standards that streamline connectivity with order management systems (OMS) and existing execution platforms within dealing desks.
The company stated that this automated channel does not replace its voice and chat brokerage division. Instead, the legacy OTC desk will remain active alongside it to handle illiquid block trades or complex transactions requiring direct supervision.
Per Blockchain.com’s technical specifications, institutional clients can review developer documentation and request API credentials directly through the company’s institutional portal. The release of this interface marks the formal launch of its global rollout during the first week of November 2026.
