TL;DR

  • ARK bought 65,615 Circle shares through ARKW, a position valued around $5.2 million, while selling roughly $15.9 million of ARKB across two funds.
  • Circle became ARKW’s fifth-largest holding at 4.3%, while ARKB remained a top-10 allocation in both ARKW and ARKF after the reduction.
  • The trades occurred as Circle shares fell 7.1% and Bitcoin traded below $80,000, supporting a rebalancing interpretation rather than a complete rotation away from Bitcoin exposure.

Ark Invest shifted its crypto-linked exposure on October 26, buying 65,615 Circle Internet Group shares through the ARK Next Generation Technology ETF while selling shares of its ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF. The Circle purchase was valued at about $5.2 million, while ARKB sales totaled roughly $15.9 million. The same portfolio move increased exposure to Circle while reducing direct Bitcoin ETF exposure, highlighting active allocation across Bitcoin-related investments rather than a simple exit from crypto.

ARK Rebalances Circle and Bitcoin ETF Exposure

ARKW bought the Circle shares after CRCL fell 7.1% on Monday to close at $79.84. The purchase lifted Circle to the fifth-largest holding in ARKW as of October 27, with a 4.3% weighting valued at roughly $67.8 million. The addition expanded an existing Circle position during a sharp share-price decline, continuing a pattern seen in earlier ARK purchases of Circle stock when the asset manager adjusted its crypto-fintech exposure during market volatility.

At the same time, ARK sold ARKB from two funds. ARKW disposed of part of its Bitcoin ETF position, while ARK Blockchain & Fintech Innovation ETF also reduced its allocation. Combined sales were valued at approximately $15.9 million. The transaction trimmed ARKB exposure but did not remove the fund from ARK’s portfolios. ARKB remained a top-10 holding in both funds, with weightings of 3.7% in ARKW and 3.8% in ARKF, echoing previous ARK portfolio trims involving its Bitcoin ETF.

The rebalance came as Bitcoin traded near $79,625 on Tuesday morning, below $80,000 and 8.7% beneath its October high near $87,200. Circle shares, meanwhile, had closed Monday at $79.84 and were down 1.2% year-to-date. The timing placed ARK’s portfolio adjustment against simultaneous weakness in Bitcoin and Circle shares, making the relative shift notable without proving a change in the firm’s long-term conviction toward either asset.

ARK’s strategy limits individual holdings from exceeding 10% of a fund, creating recurring portfolio adjustments as asset values move relative to one another. Circle’s 4.3% ARKW weighting and ARKB’s 3.7% position remained well below that ceiling after the latest trades. The disclosures therefore support a portfolio-rebalancing interpretation rather than a wholesale rotation from Bitcoin into Circle. The move also follows another Circle purchase by ARK earlier in 2026, showing that the firm has repeatedly adjusted CRCL exposure while managing broader crypto allocations. This matters because both instruments remain meaningful portfolio positions.
