TL;DR:

  • 90% of corporations using stablecoins at a significant scale state that implementation justifies the required operational effort.
  • Accelerated settlement times represent the primary benefit for 50% of the firms surveyed by Payoneer.
  • The total market capitalization of stablecoins stands at around $300 billion in October 2026, according to CoinGecko data.

The results of a survey conducted by Payoneer were unveiled on Monday, October 19. According to this report, nine out of ten companies integrating large-scale stablecoins perceive operational advantages over traditional banking.

The report titled “Stablecoin Steps Up,” presented by the payment firm Payoneer during the Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas, analyzed the behavior of organizations with active exposure to these digital assets. According to the document, 55% of executives operating at a relevant scale rate the integration as definitely worthwhile, while an additional 35% consider that it probably was.

Perception varies within companies running pilot programs. In this preliminary cohort, 73% maintain that the initiative offsets the resources invested, although absolute certainty drops to 13% among respondents.

Reduced settlement times stand out as the most prominent reported advantage. Half of the surveyed entities point to faster settlements in their cross-border transfers. Likewise, 41% of organizations highlight a substantial improvement in access to foreign currencies and overseas markets, while 40% affirm having optimized the end-to-end collection experience for their trading counterparties.

At the infrastructure level, the study indicates that 82% of companies plan to incorporate these assets into their financial systems over the next three years. Concurrently, one-third of participants already offer stable asset-linked features directly to their clients, while another 50% plan to enable this alternative over the same timeframe.

Operational Efficiency and Technical Integration Challenges

By mid-October 2026—according to CoinGecko—the stablecoin supply sits near $300 billion. Within this market, Tether (USDT) maintains the largest share with a capitalization close to $183.5 billion, followed by Circle’s USD Coin (USDC), which registers approximately $72 billion.

Spending settled through cards linked to these tokens reached a cumulative $3.9 billion through the close of September 2026. These figures reflect a progressive transition from speculative arbitrage toward the settlement of commercial liabilities.

Despite favorable satisfaction indicators, technical rollout continues to face considerable hurdles within corporate treasury departments. Payoneer identifies accounting reconciliation, integration with traditional ERP systems, and international regulatory compliance as the primary operational frictions. Converting the received balance into local fiat currency by the end recipients represents another frequent bottleneck.

According to industry analysts, companies with complex international supply chains show a greater willingness to absorb these initial implementation costs. However, the report highlights that the sample corresponds to organizations that already had prior interest or deployments in Web3; thus, the findings reflect users familiar with the technology rather than the broader traditional business landscape as a whole.

To meet this demand, institutional settlement providers have begun applying for specialized banking licenses. Payoneer is advancing its application for a national trust charter before U.S. regulators, a move designed to structure custody and conversion services under federal banking oversight.

The effectiveness of these models will remain subject to deliberations during the cross-border payments panel scheduled for the conclusion of Money20/20 on October 22, 2026, in Las Vegas.
