Pyth Network said September RWA perpetual trading volume fell 15% from August, with the tracked market generating $637.85 billion versus $753.7 billion a month earlier. At the same time, average daily open interest rose 12% to $11.71 billion and reached a record $12.61 billion on September 30, showing that traders held more exposure even as overall turnover declined.
Gold became the most traded asset, averaging $3.3 billion in daily volume, while oil climbed to third place with $49.19 billion for the month after activity accelerated around disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz. Equities still represented 49.2% of September volume, while commodities increased to 31.4%, highlighting a broader shift in activity across tokenized real-world asset markets.
Binance, OKX and Hyperliquid remained the three largest venues, while Variational climbed from seventh to fourth after launching Swaps. Pyth said it priced 90.29% of tracked September volume, or 94.7% when excluding swaps. The next signal is whether record open interest persists as trading volume changes, which would show whether participants continue holding RWA perpetual positions for longer periods.
