TL;DR:

  • Bitcoin posted a 15% gain over the past week, hitting an eight-month high above $87,000 before consolidating near $86,000.
  • Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) accumulated over $1.6 billion in net inflows within a 72-hour window.
  • The network processed 2,722 individual transactions valued at over $1 million in a single day, reflecting sustained whale activity.

The new technical target for the pioneer cryptocurrency is $100,000, after rebounding more than 50% from its July lows earlier this year when it dipped below $58,000.

Over the last 7 days, the price of Bitcoin has surged by at least $10,000. This momentum briefly propelled the asset to an eight-month peak above $87,000 before stabilizing around $86,000. At the time of writing, the asset’s price hovered near $84,200.

Market analyst Ali Martinez noted that the behavior of large entities suggests a low inclination toward immediate profit-taking. According to on-chain metrics cited by Martinez, the recording of over 2,700 million-dollar transfers in 24 hours shows that large-scale investors are maintaining active positions without offloading their holdings en masse.

Compounding this internal on-chain activity was the buying pressure from regulated institutional vehicles in the United States. An industry source revealed that spot Bitcoin ETFs accumulated $1.6 billion in net purchases across a three-day span. In Martinez’s assessment, this institutional absorption volume diminishes available liquidity on order books and solidifies the prevailing bullish trend.

On-chain metrics and technical support zones

The UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) map places the immediate primary support at $84,569. Approximately 600,000 BTC changed hands at that precise level, establishing a dense accumulation floor based on technical data.

Martinez added that, should a short-term correction materialize, a secondary demand zone lies near $77,000. On the supply side, technical analysis indicates overhead resistance is notably thin, positioning the next major volume barrier near $104,765, where historical purchases of around 283,000 coins are concentrated.

Price bands on the MVRV indicator reflect a technical structure aligned with these targets. According to Martinez’s analysis, the middle band at $100,670 serves as the immediate psychological and mathematical resistance, whereas the -0.5 lower band at $74,361 represents the baseline defense against sharp pullbacks. Technical readings suggest the six-figure threshold remains within reach as long as buy-side volume holds steady.

However, the rapid weekly rally has triggered warnings regarding overextended sentiment among retail traders. A market report cautions that the FOMO (fear of missing out) index reached levels unseen since 2024 due to the vertical price surge.

The analyst known on social channels as Gerla advised caution against chasing prices at current levels. According to his market projections, sudden profit-taking could spark a pullback toward the $80,000 area—a scenario the trader framed as a more favorable entry point for dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategies compared to buying into local highs.

Historically, the asset had not traded above the $100,000 mark since November 2025. The market now awaits upcoming weekly candle closes and the net inflow tallies reported by ETF custodians at the end of late-September trading sessions.
