Animoca Brands said on September 22 that it and Nasdaq-listed Currenc Group mutually suspended discussions over their proposed reverse merger, first announced in November 2025. The companies cited projected closing timelines and changing market conditions, saying the expected interim period no longer matched their short- and medium-term priorities, while the transaction is paused rather than formally abandoned.

The reverse merger had offered Animoca Brands a route back to public markets through Currenc Group, but the company said it remains committed to relisting on a major exchange. Animoca pointed to continued progress on its financial compliance roadmap, including FY2023 audited statements released in July and ongoing preparation of FY2024 accounts, with public-market readiness now continuing independently of the Currenc transaction.

The companies said they may resume discussions if conditions later permit, leaving the merger door open without setting a new timetable. Animoca will continue pursuing alternative paths to a public listing while completing its audit and compliance milestones, making those filings and any renewed merger talks the main developments to watch.
