Perpetual futures linked to the Bitcoin Volmex Implied Volatility Index, or BVIV, went live on Hyperliquid on September 21, giving traders direct exposure to expected Bitcoin volatility rather than price direction. The market lets participants go long or short on 30-day implied volatility, with the new contract turning Bitcoin volatility itself into a tradable perpetual instrument.
The BVIV perpetual is denominated and collateralized in USDC and launched with leverage of up to 5x. Markets by Kinetiq led the listing in partnership with Volmex and Perps.fun, while Seda provides the oracle infrastructure connecting the Volmex index to the onchain market, creating a simpler route for traders seeking volatility exposure without using options.
The launch marks the first onchain perpetual futures market tied to Volmex’s Bitcoin volatility index. The next test is whether traders build sustained liquidity and open interest around the new contract, which would determine how effectively the product develops beyond its initial debut and whether direct volatility trading gains traction on Hyperliquid.
