TL;DR

  • Pi Network’s KYC and Mainnet migration update could unblock roughly 914,000 users affected by duplicate-account reviews and Fast-Track wallet issues.
  • More than 417,000 accounts incorrectly flagged as possible duplicates can resume KYC, while about 497,000 users await a wallet fix scheduled for deployment within roughly a week.
  • A one-month palm-print trial will test another human-verification method, alongside broader liveness support, machine-learning resource improvements and new resubmission options.

Pi Network has rolled out a KYC and Mainnet migration update aimed at clearing verification and wallet issues that left thousands of Pioneers unable to progress. The changes target so-called corner cases affecting users who were eligible but became stuck during identity checks or after migration. The biggest immediate effect is that roughly 914,000 users could regain a path toward KYC completion or access to migrated balances. The update also introduces verification experiments, including a palm-print trial designed to confirm that participants are human without requiring facial display.

Duplicate-Account Reviews and Fast-Track Wallets Get Targeted Fixes

The largest KYC correction affects more than 417,000 users who had been placed under duplicate-account review. After further evaluation, the project determined that those accounts did not actually belong in that category. They can now continue through the KYC process, although all other applicable verification requirements still need to be satisfied. For these users, the update removes a specific administrative barrier rather than bypassing identity checks altogether. The change could significantly reduce a backlog created by accounts incorrectly flagged as possible duplicates and allow affected Pioneers to resume the standard path toward Mainnet eligibility.

A separate issue involves about 497,000 users whose Mainnet balances became inaccessible because of complications tied to Fast-Track wallets. Some participants received a Mainnet wallet through the Fast-Track process and later used it as the destination for migration, but those wallets sometimes lacked enough Pi to cover the gas fee needed to claim the migrated balance. Pi Network plans to deploy a fix within roughly the next week, unblocking affected wallets while preventing the same problem from recurring for similar accounts. Combined with the duplicate-account correction, the two measures are expected to help approximately 914,000 users.

Identity verification is expanding beyond the process. During a one-month trial, selected users will complete multiple liveness checks and may be offered palm-print capture as an authentication method. The team says palm prints can help verify that a participant is a person while offering privacy because users do not need to show their face. The broader KYC update pairs new biometric experimentation with technical changes intended to reduce processing failures across a wider range of devices and verification cases. Additional improvements include machine-learning-based resource management, broader liveness-check support for older smartphones, and new resubmission options for certain Yoti and Indonesian ID cases.
