Cash App is widening its crypto reach through a new integration with MoonPay, marking the first time the mobile payments service is extending support beyond Bitcoin and USDC. The move gives eligible U.S. users access to a broader range of digital assets and a smoother path into the crypto ecosystem without leaving the Cash App environment.

Expanded Asset Access Through a Familiar Gateway
For years, Cash App has served as one of the most recognizable entry points into crypto, backed by a customer base of more than 50 million users. Until recently, that gateway was limited to Bitcoin, with USDC added earlier this year. Now, through MoonPay, users can purchase assets such as Ether, SOL, XRP and USDT directly using their Cash App balances. They can also fund wallets supported by the platform, including Ledger, BitPay, Trust Wallet, MetaMask and Uniswap.
Jack Dorsey, whose company Block operates Cash App, has historically resisted expanding into stablecoins, but acknowledged that customers want optionality. The integration with MoonPay offers that flexibility without requiring Block to build new infrastructure. As Block’s partnerships lead Morgan Kuntze put it, Bitcoin remains central to the company’s strategy, but customers benefit from having more ways to pay.
A Unified Checkout Experience and Broader Ecosystem Reach
MoonPay has added Cash App Pay as a payment option across its own checkout and select partner platforms, including Bitcoin.com, Moonshot, Tangem, LOBSTR and Edge. This lets users fund crypto purchases instantly without switching apps or logging into separate accounts. According to MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright, the goal is to meet users where they already manage their money.
The company’s regulatory footprint spans New York’s BitLicense framework and authorization under the EU’s MiCA regime. It has also been expanding aggressively, acquiring DFlow, Sodot and Glide in 2026 while launching PayBox, a vault enabling AI assistants to authorize crypto transactions securely. Together, Cash App and MoonPay are positioning themselves to streamline access to digital assets for millions of U.S. customers seeking convenience and choice.
