Polygon Labs said that it joined NOBO Finance and Dun & Bradstreet in Phase 2 of the Bank of England’s Digital Pound Lab. The consortium will test near-instant cross-border settlement, with Polygon supplying the stablecoin and smart-contract infrastructure while the digital-pound leg settles on the Bank’s simulated rails.

The experiment combines a stablecoin payment from an exporter with a simulated digital-pound settlement from an importer in one coordinated flow. NOBO Finance is also leading an SME Bankable Profile use case, with Dun & Bradstreet contributing verified business identity and credit data, while Polygon Chain provides the onchain infrastructure that lets the profile travel with the payment.

The Lab uses no real customers, real money or formal regulatory approval, and Polygon stressed that participation does not imply Bank of England endorsement or determine the final design of a digital pound. The next test is whether interoperability between stablecoins and central-bank money works cleanly in a controlled environment before any live deployment is considered.
