  • The company continues using Bitcoin sales as part of its liquidity strategy while maintaining significant exposure to the leading cryptocurrency.

Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings has reduced its BTC reserves after selling 726 Bitcoin valued at around $46 million. The transaction lowered the company’s holdings to 35,577 BTC, according to updated data from BitcoinTreasuries.net.

The sale moved MARA outside the top three corporate Bitcoin holders after the company previously maintained one of the largest Bitcoin treasuries among publicly traded firms. Despite the reduction, MARA still holds a Bitcoin reserve valued at roughly $2.3 billion, keeping its position as a major institutional participant in the crypto market.

MARA has continued to manage its Bitcoin holdings as part of a broader financial strategy. Rather than keeping all mined BTC untouched, the company has used selected sales to improve liquidity, strengthen its balance sheet, and support corporate financial operations.

MARA Holdings Adjusts Its Bitcoin Treasury Strategy

Earlier in 2026, MARA sold more than 15,000 BTC to repurchase over $1 billion in convertible debt at a discount. The decision reflected how Bitcoin mining companies are increasingly balancing long-term exposure with capital management needs.

Mining firms often sell portions of their Bitcoin production or reserves to fund expansion, cover expenses, or optimize their financial structure. Other major miners, including Riot Platforms and Core Scientific, have also reduced their BTC holdings during strategic adjustments.

The approach shows that corporate Bitcoin strategies are becoming more flexible as companies adapt to changing market conditions. Instead of following a simple accumulation model, miners are using Bitcoin reserves as a financial asset that can provide additional options when needed.
