Currently, although XRPL supports multi-signature transactions, it requires collecting approvals off-chain through manual processes. This dynamic creates the so-called “last mile” problem, where the failure of a coordinator halts operations. With On-Chain Cosigner, the request is stored directly as a native TransactionProposal object on the blockchain, validating each signature in real time and ensuring a highly secure environment for asset custody in financial institutions.
This feature is designed to operate complementarily with other advanced network upgrades, such as batch transactions (XLS-56) and future lending protocols. Its final deployment will be subject to the standard amendment voting and approval process among XRPL validators.
