Gravity L1 Mainnet Launches, Marking the Transition From Alpha to Full Layer‑1

Gravity L1 Mainnet Launches, Marking the Transition From Alpha to Full Layer‑1

Gravity announced the start of the transition from its Alpha Mainnet to Gravity L1, its own layer-1 network. This marks the end of a cycle that began in August 2024, when Alpha Mainnet was launched as a testing environment under real production load, processing hundreds of millions of transactions and ranking among the fastest chains by block time.

The L1 launches in permissioned mode: for now, only a limited set of invited validators operates the network, and Galxe is the first application to migrate from Alpha Mainnet. The project defines this phase as a validation instance before opening the network to more participants. G is the chain’s native gas and staking token.

The network offers full EVM equivalence, finality in under one second, and over 12,000 transactions per second on moderate validator hardware. Its architecture includes the parallel execution engine Grevm, a proprietary implementation built on RethParadigm‘s client—and a native oracle whose security relies on the same validator set that produces blocks, without depending on external oracle networks.
