TL;DR

  • Chainlink’s data standard is live on Canton, bringing real-time pricing, valuation, collateral verification, and Proof of Reserve to regulated tokenization workflows.
  • Canton gains Data Streams, SmartData NAV/AUM feeds, and 24/5 Equities Streams for stock and ETF data, with CCIP planned next.
  • Canton cites $8T+ onchain RWAs and $350B daily Treasury repo throughput; Chainlink says it has enabled $28T+ transaction value and runs as a Canton Super Validator.

Chainlink and the Canton Network say Chainlink’s data standard is now live across the Canton ecosystem, a move aimed at accelerating institutional-grade tokenization at scale. The key shift is regulated markets getting production-ready data rails. The rollout puts real-time pricing, valuation, collateral verification, and asset-backing assurances into applications that support lending, margining, settlement, and risk management. The announcement frames Canton as a public blockchain purpose-built for institutional finance, and positions Chainlink’s oracle stack as the connective tissue institutions expect when moving regulated assets onchain. The update follows Canton’s May 2024 mainnet launch for tokenized assets.

What’s live now and what’s coming next

Building on an existing strategic Scale partnership, Canton now supports Chainlink Data Streams, SmartData NAV and AUM feeds, and Chainlink Proof of Reserve. The immediate win is a broader institutional data toolkit, live in production. The release says these services bring industry-leading oracle infrastructure to regulatory-grade real-world assets and tokenization workflows. Canton also gains access to Chainlink’s recently launched 24/5 Equities Streams, intended to unlock onchain access to the roughly $80 trillion U.S. stock market through fast stock and ETF data. Chainlink CCIP is expected to go live next and enable secure cross-chain transfers there.

Canton says that since its May 2024 mainnet launch, it underpins more than $8 trillion in onchain RWAs and processes about $350 billion in daily U.S. Treasury repo transactions. Scale metrics are being used as the credibility anchor for institutions. Ecosystem partners are already using Chainlink’s data standard in production, including CBTC by BitSafe and Unhedged, plus Thetanuts Finance, Kairo by AngelHack, and Temple. Chainlink says it has enabled over $28 trillion in transaction value. Chainlink Labs also serves as a Canton Super Validator, supporting governance, sequencing, and the Global Synchronizer layer with traditional systems.

Executives are pitching the integration as a step toward finance operating onchain. The strategic narrative is privacy plus compliance, backed by standardized data and interoperability. Digital Asset’s Eric Saraniecki said he has seen ā€œpositive momentumā€ as Canton adopts Chainlink standards in production. Chainlink Labs’ Johann Eid called it ā€œa defining stepā€ toward institutional finance onchain. Canton describes itself as a public, permissionless blockchain governed by the Canton Foundation and powered by Canton Coin. Chainlink notes adoption by institutions including Swift, Mastercard, and UBS, and says enterprise revenue is converted to LINK stored in a reserve.
