Swiss bank AMINA Bank AG has received a license from Hong Kong’s SFC to offer regulated crypto asset services to institutional clients. The authorization, confirmed by the bank via an official statement, makes it the first international bank to achieve this milestone in the city.
The Type 1 license allows AMINA to handle 13 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. This move occurs in a booming local market, where the entity reported a 233% increase in trading volumes in early 2025, leveraging the city’s emerging regulatory framework.
The bank plans to expand its offering with private fund management products and tokenized assets. The approval reinforces Hong Kong’s strategy of attracting global financial institutions to establish itself as a digital hub, following the recent approval of a Solana ETF and new stablecoin rules.
