As per recent developments, FC Barcelona has joined hands with the NFT project, World of Women, for the second release of its 10-part Masterpieces collection. This collection artistically highlights the achievements of both past and present players. The second release has been titled Empowerment and celebrates the women’s club captain, Alexia Putellas.

The club describes the launch as a catalyst for progress and symbolizes transformation at the same time. The NFT depicts Putellas during the Women’s Champions League semifinal against Wolfsburg in 2022. During the game, she scored a total of two goals and paved the way for the victory of her team.
Furthermore, the two-day auction of the Empowerment NFT is expected to begin on June 26 on the OpenSea marketplace and will run till June 28. The auction for the NFT would mark the first time a football-themed NFT was shared on the OpenSea platform with a wide fanbase. Similarly, the NFT has been minted on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon.
The Empowerment NFT, FC Barcelona Hops on the NFT Craze
During the creation process of the NFT, a three-dimensional figure of Putellas was crafted and transformed via digital painting, special effects, as well as authentic chants from a number of FC Barcelona supporters. The use of gold in the NFT signifies both the achievements and the timeless legacy of Putellas.
