Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Executive Council, has today launched the Dubai Metaverse Strategy in line with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of the country.
The Dubai Metaverse Strategy aims to make the region one of the top 10 metaverse economies and a global hub for the metaverse community in accordance with its directive.
Tapping Into New Opportunities
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed of Dubai highlighted the idea of consolidating the emirate’s position as a world-class hub offering a pioneering digital ecosystem for the 21st century, thus reflecting Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision for transforming the emirate into a global capital of advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and the Web3, which reflects the vision for transforming Dubai into an emirate with a frontrunner position.
It is the aim of the strategy to continue Dubai’s success in attracting more than 1,000 companies to the city in the fields of blockchain and metaverse, building on Dubai’s successful experience.
Dubai has also promoted its ambitions to be able to support more than 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030 by launching this program. The country’s economy would be further boosted by this investment, and the UAE government’s plan to increase the number of blockchain companies by five times would also be supported by this initiative.
Sheikh Hamdan said that the city had made great strides in expanding its role as one of the biggest testbeds for metaverse technologies and investing judiciously in building capabilities and talent to ensure that Dubai will become one of the region’s most robust and largest metaverse ecosystems.
Moreover, added that the adoption of new technologies would be an important step in Dubai’s vision to embrace future technologies to create new work models in key sectors and increase the influence of the metaverse on regional and global economies through the use of futuristic technologies.
Commenting on the launch of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Teleworking Applications and Deputy Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, reiterated the importance of designing the future with new digital strategies for adopting the metaverse in vital sectors.
He added that the metaverse would drive the UAE’s and Dubai’s efforts to provide innovative solutions, positively impact people’s lives, and transform the city into one of the smartest hubs worldwide, offering new economic opportunities.
Using accelerators and incubators that promote advanced ecosystems that attract companies and projects to Dubai, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy aims to foster innovation, enhance the metaverse’s economic contributions through R&D collaborations, and promote the development of advanced ecosystems utilizing accelerators and incubators that promote innovation.
