Cardano Mobile Wallet Yoroi Now Offers Bluetooth Compatibility For Ledger Nano X Devices

The commercial arm of decentralized public blockchain platform Cardano has announced that Cardano mobile wallet, Yoroi, now offers Bluetooth connectivity with Ledger Nano X devices.

The Twitter handle of Yoroi Mobile announced the news to the community on Wednesday, May 27. The mobile app is available for download at Android and iOS stores.

According to Emurgo, Yoroi is the first Cardano mobile wallet that is compatible with any Ledger Nano X wallet. The announcement reads:

“EMURGO is excited to release Ledger Nano X bluetooth compatibility for the Yoroi Mobile application! Yoroi is the first Cardano mobile wallet to integrate directly with a @Ledger device!”

In a video session, EMURGO’s Co-VP of Engineering and Cardano Project Manager, Sebastien Guillemot, noted that this compatibility is only for bluetooth and only for Nano X device. USB connection to Ledger Nano X is also restricted but expected to be released in future. Desktop user can also access Ledger Nano X device through Yoroi browser extension.

Sebastien further noted that Ledger Nano S device are not compatible with Yoroi mobile application. However Nano S device can be connected though Yoroi browser extension.

Yoroi is a light wallet for Cardano ADA users. Is an Emurgo product, engineered by IOHK. According to the company, Yoroi wallet is a highly secure wallet as private keys are encrypted and never shared with any servers or third party providers.


In order to protect user privacy, Yoroi wallet does not even implement analytics. To make the more secure, Emurgo has also integrated Yoroi Mobile with Ledger devices.

The Ledger Nano X is a Bluetooth-enabled secure hardware wallet that stores private keys in a certified secure chip, the same chip used in credit cards or passports. The wallet also allows customers to install up to 100 application that include that  Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin and many more.

The device is developed by Ledger, a company developing security and infrastructure solutions for cryptocurrencies as well as blockchain applications for individuals and companies, by leveraging a distinctive operating system (OS) called BOLOS.

The Ledger was founded in 2014 and is the only player in the market to provide this technology. The company currently have over 130 employees in Paris, Vierzon, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. Another well known hardware crypto wallet developed by Ledger Nano S. The Ledger Nano S supports over 25 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple and Altcoins
