Dash (Digital Cash) network has finally fully upgraded to the highly anticipated anti-51% attack version that implements Chainlocks and LLMQ-based InstantSend features. The version 0.14 has been touted as introducing features that make Dash network perhaps the most secure public blockchain.

This particular version has been rolling out slowly for a while now and was concluded on July 2nd as revealed by Dash Core CMO Fernando Gutierrez and Chief Product Owner Elizabeth Robuck. Gutierrez wrote on Twitter after the successful network upgrade that:

“With today’s activation of Chainlocks and LLMQ-Based InstantSend, Dash transactions become FINAL in a second. That is the expected behavior of cash, and it is also now of digital cash!!!”

As described by Robuck in a Monday, July 1st post, the final installation phase included the activation of the last two sporks or multi-phased forks.

The prior version of the InstantSend feature that was automatically activated for about 90% of all Dash transactions was to be deactivated, as the new version that includes LLMQ (long living masternode quorums) was activated affecting all transactions.

The new Dash InstantSend feature will allow for instant confirmations of transactions that will also allow for near-instant respend once the funds have been received. Following the activation of InstantSend, then the ChainLocks feature was activated.

The ChainLocks feature works by protecting the network against 51% attacks by leveraging LLMQs and the masternode network.

As commented by Robuck, the full activation of Dash version 0.14 takes the project a step closer to the complete roll-out of Dash version 1.0 dubbed Evolution release.

“These few steps represent the last big milestones of the Dash Core v0.14 rollout. Thank you to all our partners and network operators for your responsiveness and collaboration, which helped make this a smooth and methodical release. We look forward to celebrating the final rollout of these two features with you, and continuing on towards Dash Core v1.0,” she wrote.

To take advantage of the newly-released features, Dash users will need to update their wallet interfaces on both mobile platforms i.e. iOS and Android as well the desktop counterparts. “Users of DashWallet on both iOS and Android should be sure to update to the latest version of the app as soon as possible to take advantage of the new features.”
