Mainnet \ud83d\udc40\ud83d\ude4f GET READY!&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Moving Toward PoS<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The plans and recent actions in testnets are discussed in a post on Ethereum&#8217;s official <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ethereum.org\/2022\/03\/14\/kiln-merge-testnet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The Kintsugi merge testnet, which went live in late December, <strong>has been a great place for The Merge to be tested.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ethereum developers arrived at a set of reliable and robust protocol specifications thanks to multiple test <strong>suites, multi-client devnets, shadow forks of Goerli, application deployments, and the community&#8217;s aid #TestingTheMerge<\/strong>. Kiln, the successor to Kintsugi, has been introduced now that clients have adopted these latest standards!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kiln&#8217;s execution layer, like Ethereum&#8217;s mainnet, was launched with proof-of-work in tandem with a Beacon Chain running proof-of-stake. On <strong>March 15, 2022<\/strong>, the Merge took place on Kiln. The network is now totally proof-of-stake-based!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Kiln is intended to be the final merge testnet built before the upgrade of existing public testnets<\/strong>. Kiln testing is strongly encouraged by application and tools developers, node operators, infrastructure providers, and stakers to facilitate a smooth transition on existing public testnets. <strong>In the coming weeks<\/strong>, <strong>Kintsugi<\/strong>, the prior merging testnet, will be retired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The most straightforward approach to begin utilizing <strong>Kiln<\/strong> is to go to the network&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kiln.themerge.dev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">home page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Users can connect to a <strong>JSON RPC API<\/strong>, add the network to their browser wallet, see block explorers, and request funds from the faucet. The staking launchpad also supports the Kiln network if you want to be a <strong>validator<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45885 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/crypto-economy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ethereum-box.jpg\" alt=\"ETHEREUM\" width=\"699\" height=\"311\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Developers may use this new testnet to <strong>test their smart contracts and dApps with ready-to-use tools and functionalities<\/strong>. The majority of Ethereum applications entail considerably more than on-chain contracts. Kiln is where developers will test their front-end code, tooling, deployment process, and other off-chain components to ensure they&#8217;re working properly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Ethereum team highly advises developers to complete a <strong>full testing and deployment cycle on Kiln<\/strong> and report any issues with tools or dependencies to the maintainers of those projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>The date for the final migration to PoS is yet unknown<\/strong>. However, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto-economy.com\/ethereum-2-0-staking-deposits-exceed-3m-eth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ethereum<\/a> blog post, if no issues with Kiln are discovered, the existing <strong>Ethereum testnets<\/strong> (<strong>Goerli, Ropsten, and so on<\/strong>) will run through The Merge after clients have confirmed the details of their implementations. Once they have successfully transitioned and stabilized, a difficulty value will be determined for the mainnet transition, assuming no issues are discovered.
