Initially, the bridge will enable <em>\u201ctoken transfers between the NEAR and Cardano blockchains and, later on, enable cross-chain smart contract functionality.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ardana is an all-in-one decentralized stablecoin ecosystem built on Cardano. The platform will allow users to mint stablecoins against locked collateral. The platform itself is powered by its native utility and governance token DANA. As a DeFi hub of Cardano, it is also building an automated market maker (AMM) decentralized exchange, Danaswap, to support the trade of stablecoins and stable assets. It&#8217;s coming soon stablecoin dUSD will be backed on-chain collateral and will enable borrowers to take leverage on their ADA or other supported assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This means the bridge will make NEAR\u2019s native coin available as an asset on Cardano. This will allow NEAR holders to use their assets as collateral on Ardana to mint stablecoins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To build the bridge, Ardana has received a grant from NEAR protocol. In October 2021, NEAR <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/near.org\/blog\/near-announces-800-million-in-funding-initiatives-to-support-ecosystem-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> <\/strong>an $800 million fund to fuel the DeFi growth in its ecosystem. Although it is not mentioned in the announcement, it seems that Ardana has received a grant from this fund.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Both Near and Cardano are now ready to share their part in the burgeoning space of DeFi and NFT. Cardano has finally released its smart contract functionality after years of anticipation. As <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/crypto-economy.com\/near-protocol-launches-nightshade-sharding-on-mainnet-what-is-it\/\">reported<\/a><\/strong>, the NEAR protocol has also started its transition to a fully sharded blockchain as it has launched phase 0 of its Nightshade Sharding. Therefore, it is an ideal time to connect these two ecosystems that store a lot of potential for the next-gen of Dapps.<\/p>\n<p>Erik Trautman, NEAR Foundation CEO, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/nearprotocol\/ardana-partners-with-near-to-build-cardano-bridge-5097eedb1a8b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>\u201cAt NEAR, we\u2019ve always believed the future of blockchain is multi-chain.
