She wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m excited to announce that I\u2019ll be leading <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bluesky?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@bluesky<\/a>, an initiative started by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Twitter?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@Twitter<\/a> to decentralize social media. Follow updates on Twitter and at <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Sg4MxK1zwl\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/Sg4MxK1zwl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jay Graber (@arcalinea) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arcalinea\/status\/1427314482154414080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 16, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Jay Graber is a former software engineer for Zcash and Skuchain and the founder of social event startup Happening Inc. Graber said that she had already been working in a less formal role inside the BlueSky team. She was working with working closely with a group of thinkers and builders to create a technical review of the decentralized social ecosystem. She said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>\u201cOver the past year, I\u2019ve been working closely with a group of thinkers and builders from the decentralized social ecosystem. We published an ecosystem review in January, and my next step will be hiring for the BlueSky team.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1427315839666118662?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">welcomed<\/a> <\/strong>Jay Graber on Twitter. He wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jay will be leading <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bluesky?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@bluesky<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Another step towards decentralizing Twitter and social media. <\/p>\n<p>Now we can move much faster, and through code. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9RLR4Je8GE\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/9RLR4Je8GE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; jack (@jack) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1427315839666118662?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 16, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As Crypto Economy <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/crypto-economy.com\/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-to-develop-a-new-decentralized-social-media-platform-bluesky\/\">reported<\/a><\/strong>, the Bluesky project was first unveiled in December of 2019 when Jack Dorsey <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1204766078468911106\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> <\/strong>that Twitter was funding a <em>\u201csmall independent team of up to five open source architects, engineers, and designers to develop an open and decentralized standard for social media.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Bluesky is working to ensure that social media moderation could be less decentralized in the future. The ultimate goal of the Bluesky project is for Twitter to be a client of the standard. Dorsey, at that time, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1204766081404956674\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> <\/strong>that when Twitter was first founded, it was so open that many people thought it would be a decentralized internet standard. But with time, Twitter became more and more centralized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He thinks that an open-source standard is critical to social media as centralized solutions are not up to the task for the modern requirement. Therefore, Bluesky is working to find an existing standard to build upon or develop a new standard from scratch. According to Dorsey, blockchain technology provides the best platform to build decentralized solutions. He <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1204766085037248512\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>\u201cFinally, new technologies have emerged to make a decentralized approach more viable. Blockchain points to a series of decentralized solutions for open and durable hosting, governance, and even monetization.
