Cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia\u2019s<\/strong> <\/a>assigned liquidator Grant Thornton New Zealand has filed a motion in the United States to protect the exchange\u2019s user data that is stored in the US by an Arizona-based services company.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to a recent report<\/a> by Bloomberg<\/strong>, the Arizona firm has terminated services with the embattled exchange and is now seeking $2 million in owed compensation from the exchange for data storage facilities failure to which the company threatens to destroy the data.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n This prompted Grant Thornton to file for data protection from the bankruptcy court in the Southern District of New York for urgent relief of the firm\u2019s decision to destroy the customer data. In addition, Grant Thornton further requested the US court to recognize the New Zealand legal liquidation process. The motion, which was filed on Friday, May 24th<\/sup> was successful and the court granted a provisional relief on the data destruction until June 7th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
